I am delighted to introduce...
...the prospectus for the new Merchants' Academy which will open in September 2008. The students who join the Academy will study in excellent facilities, furnished to a high standard and fitted with the most modern equipment available.
The Academy is a new and different type of school for South Bristol. It is independent of local authority control and is co-sponsored by the Society of Merchant Venturers and the University of Bristol. Working together in partnership we will realise a vision for the young people within the local community.
- We will insist on the highest level of standards for our students.
- We will have the highest expectations and aspirations for them.
- We will be determined that all of them will achieve to their highest potential.
- We will be an outward looking institution that welcomes all sections of the community to join in helping to create our vision for the Academy.
- We will develop close links with business partners and other organisations who will support our students' learning about enterprise, the world of work and other aspects of life in the 21st century.
- We will ensure our students move on from the Academy with the necessary skills and qualifications to be successful in their future lives.
- We will create an extensive co-curricular programme of activities.
