Co-curricular Programme

Who is it for and when will it run?

All year groups, but it will be compulsory for Year 7. Session 3 will run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 3.30pm until 5.00pm.

What activities could we run?

• Drama Academy: Bristol Old Vic.
• Sport: Fixtures, Health and Fitness, Martial Arts.
• Study Support: ICT, Numeracy and Literacy.
• Enterprise and Skills.
• Inter House Competitions.
• Art and Design.
• Language Clubs.
• Visits abroad, residentials, theatre trips etc.
• Library.
• History Club.

What benefits will it have?

It will provide opportunities to shape pupils attitudes and skills. Address important aspects of education that can often be crowded out in the standard curriculum. Provides pupils with the opportunities to acquire new skills and qualifications, keep fit and pursue wider interests , build upon what has been learnt in the school day and to have fun.

Community

Aim: For the Academy to become a school that provides its pupils, their families and the wider community with a variety of activities that will make a difference.

What are we looking to develop?

• Further links with Primary Schools.
• Adult Education Courses – to improve numeracy, literacy and ICT.
• Coach Education Courses.
• Holiday Camps – Clubs.
• Links with outside sports agencies – Bristol City FC, Bristol Rugby, Somerset CC, etc.
• Links with music and drama groups.
• Community Open Days.
• Develop the use of the Academy Hall – Somerset CC, Fitness Suite (400 members), Excercise classes.
• Develop links with other agencies – PCT, Withywood & Hartcliffe Healthy Minds.
• To work in partnership to build up a school with an excellent reputation across the community.

• Dance Academy: Mondays and Thursdays, all pupils welcome.
• Girls Fitness Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome.
• Badminton Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome.
• Boys' Fitness Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome. Includes Boxing coaching.
• English Coursework Catch-up: Mondays for Year 11.
• Maths Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome.
• Climbing Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome. Start date TBC.
• French Club: Mondays, all pupils welcome.
• Window On The World: Mondays, all pupils welcome.
• BTEC Hairdressing Catch-up: Mondays for Years 10 and 11.
• BTEC Support: Mondays for Years 10 and 11.
• Netball Coaching Workshop: Mondays for Years 5, 6, 7 and 8.

• Rugby Training: Tuesdays and Thursdays for Years 7, 8, 9 and 10.
