Castle House
Castle House was named after Castle Gate, which was built by the Normans on the strategic site between the River Avon and the River Frome, for the defence of the city of Bristol. The remains of the castle, including the Sally Port can still be seen today in Castle Park.
Our House colour is yellow, which represents energy and enthusiasm.
House Motto:
Head of House – Mr Brittan
“Hi, I’m Mr Brittan and I’m Head of Castle House. I am also a Science Teacher and help to deal with behavioural issues.
“In Castle House, we make sure every student is properly supported so that they can achieve their best. We hold weekly assemblies where we talk to the year group about their progress and give them the feedback and motivation they need to succeed.
“We also encourage students to become an active part of the Academy community, through the many co-curricular clubs and sporting activities we have on offer.”
Assistant Head of House – Mrs Hudson
“I’m Mrs Hudson and my job is Assistant Head of Castle House. I work to support attendance and also pastoral issues. I am available for Castle students on a day-to-day basis as the first port of call if they have a problem or need to talk to someone.
“We like to encourage achievement, and give out House points when students do well in lessons, have good behaviour or attendance, or excel in other areas, and these points can mean rewards.”
