Understand and express ideas and information confidently and creatively
Working towards
- Confidently get their point across to a small audience. E.g. answering a key question or explaining a concept to a small group.
- Use basic vocabulary and body language. Students are not necessarily confident in their verbal or body language presentation.
- Students may communicate using visual stimuli. These are clear and get a point across to the audience. E.g. Basic power point or poster.
- Students are able to produce written documents at a low level which is accurate in conveying their point. E.g. A letter to a teacher
Progression
- Students are clear in their understanding of the point they are trying to convey. This is evident through a higher level of confidence.
- Students are able to address a bigger and more varied audience. Students may also engage with this audience.
- They have a more extensive vocabulary and use body language to convey their point.
- Students are able to produce a good level of visual stimuli which allows the audience to engages with the student and topic. E.g. interactive presentation, possibly using ICT. The presentation will have some creative aspects.
- Students are able to clearly present an idea or argument though a written article. E.g. a letter to a company asking for sponsorship.
Higher Level
- Students are very clear about the points that they wish to communicate. They are confident and can engage in discussion. This may lead to progression of an argument or debate. They are able to take on the opinion of other whilst still maintain the original focus of the key concept. E.g. a presentation to a large group in which the group are invited to engage in feedback or questioning. This could be a house parliament or interview process.
- Students have excellent body language and can use a wide range of vocabulary. Students are articulate.
- Students can lead presentations with a visual or verbal focus. These presentations may have outcomes that are a key focus. Through debate the student is able to guide the discussion towards outcomes. E.g. lesson delivery, opportunity to lead class debate, leading of student parliament.
