Curriculum
Merchants' Academy is an independent Academy where we teach our own bespoke curriculum, which we believe provides students with an education that is relevant to them as young people.
Within this curriculum, we ensure that students study the traditional subject areas of English, mathematics, science, technology, humanities, performing arts, physical education, business studies, ICT and modern foreign languages.
However we are also keen that our curriculum reflects our specialism of enterprise and skills, and one of the key ways that we do this is through our vocational offering.
Students will have the chance to build practical skills and knowledge in specific trades such as hairdressing and construction, whilst studying for nationally-recognised BTEC qualifications.
Alongside this, our entitlement curriculum, covering Personal, Social, Health and Sex Education, and Citizenship, will ensure that our students develop into responsible young adults, ready to make an important contribution in their local community and beyond.
