Enterprise & Skills
At Merchants' Academy we have a strong focus on Enterprise and Ethics as part of our bespoke curriculum. A special emphasis is placed on careers education and preparing students for future employment opportunities using the links provided by our sponsors and other partners.
As part of this, students undertake professionally recognised qualifications that will prepare them for entering the workplace and give them a headstart over other candidates, including:
The British Safety Council 'Level 1 Certificate in Health & Safety at Work', which provides candidates with a vital understanding of health and safety in the workplace, including the duties of employers and employees under UK health and safety legislation.
The NOCN Foundation Award in Careers Planning 'Preparation for Working Life' , where students will learn about transferrable skills, identify potential careers paths and draft personal statements, professional CV's and job application letters.
The ASDAN 'Level 1 in Personal and Social Development', which helps students to develop into confident and healthy young adults and responsible citizens.
All these qualifications together are the equivalent of four GCSEs.
