Frome House
Frome House was named after the Frome Gate, which was one of a number of fortified gates positioned along the town walls. The name ‘Frome’ comes from the Old English word ffraw meaning fair, fine or brisk and describing the flow of the nearby rivers.
Our House colour is green, which reflects the House identity of outer softness but inner strength.
House Motto:
Head of House - Mr Black
“My name is Mr Black and I am the Head of Frome House. My role in the House is to look after all of the students and to make sure that they are able to learn in a pleasant and friendly atmosphere.
“Frome is a friendly house, which enjoys competition as well as supporting fellow students.I hope that all of the students in Frome feel safe and happy at the Academy and I operate an ‘open door’ policy to encourage students to share problems and successes.”
Assistant Head of House - Bonnie Lonergan
“Hi, I’m Bonnie, and as Assistant Head for Frome House, my role is a pastoral non-teaching one which involves making sure that students feel safe and happy at school.
“I welcome the students in at the school gate each morning, and spend break and lunchtimes out in the dining hall or courtyard so that students can approach me to tell me anything they are worried about, or any problems they might have.
“The other part of my role involves monitoring attendance and punctuality of pupils within my house, and putting in support to help them improve. I am available for parents as well if they have any issues of concerns they want to chat through.”
