GCSE Geography
At GCSE you have a series of short exams in both Year 10 and Year 11.
In Year 10 you will have TWO 1 hr exams based solely on the unit we have studied:
1. Extreme environments
2. Similarities and difference
In Year 11 you have ONE 1hr exam:
1. Issues in our fast changing world
Obviously you need to REVISE for these exams! To help you achieve your best you by the end of the course you need to act now!
Study Tips
a) Keep clear study notes to revise from which you will gain in your lessons...
b) ....So.... you need to ATTEND the classes – one missed lesson could be crucial to your understanding. If you do miss something you MUST catch up the work!
c) You need to keep your notes in order – your teacher will help you with this throughout the year.
d) Use the end of unit self assessment sheet and be honest about what you know and what you don’t - it will help focus your revision.
e) Keep your practice exam questions – use these to revise... How can I improve my grade? If I got full marks - why? What am I confident about?
f) If you are unclear about ANYTHING please ask your teacher... we are here to help!
g) Be aware of the world around you... watch the news, read a newspaper... Geography is all around you; the best geographers have an understanding of how our world is linked and what is happening in it!

Appropriate reference books that will help (all in the LRC)
There are many that will help and to start with, it’s a good idea to talk to the Librarian who will direct you according to the topic you are revising.
Also, journals such as ‘The National Geographic’ are helpful, as well as newspapers.
