Head Boy & Head Girl
The votes are in and this years Head Boy and Head Girl have been announced.
Head Boy & Head of Lawford House: Luke Dixon
“Hello, my name is Luke Dixon and I feel privileged to be elected both Head Boy and Head of Lawford House. I hope to make a good approachable ambassador to all students, and make their voices heard.”
Head Girl: Cher Dyer
“Hi, I’m Cher. As Head Girl, I want to represent all students, especially the new Year 7’s and make sure they feel welcome and happy so they enjoy their time here. I also want to help the Academy raise lots of money for charity.”
The Academy has also chosen student representatives for each House, as follows:
Head of Castle House: Jamie Rossiter
"Hello, My name is Jamie. I am studying Health and Social care and IT in the sixth form. I have been at Merchants' Academy since it first opened in 2008. I have enjoyed my time here so far and think I will be good at this role because I am keen to improve the Academy and help students throughout the school. I hope I will be a good person for the rest of the Academy to look up to."
Head of Frome House: Bradley Thomas

"Hi, I'm Bradley Thomas, I'm the House Captain of Frome, I'm currently in Year 12 and have been at Merchants' Academy since 2008. I thoroughly enjoy sports and all sciences, and I ran for House Captain because I feel I will make a good contribution to the Academy, as I wish to be a good role model for the younger students and give them the voice which they deserve."
Head of Temple House: Shelby Slocombe
"Hi, my name's Shelby and I'm Head of House for Temple. I am glad that I was voted in, because I want to give the other students a voice so they can make the changes they want to see happen. Students can come to me at any dinner or break times if they want to tell me their thoughts, or they can talk to their tutors, who I will be catching up with too."
These Heads of House will represent the Academy and sit on the student council. Congratulations!
