Someone who is open to new ideas or information
At a lower level
- Be able to listen to the point of view of others and take on this information.
- Be able to sensible comment on this information and make their own decisions.
- Be able to listen to a range of view points.
- E.g. Students listen to each other in a class debate on fair trade, racism, democracy. Student take on this information and understand that there are different cultures and opinions.
Progression
- Students are not prejudice in their views and understanding on a number of points.
- They have the ability to take a number of different view points from different people and from different sources. They are able to collate this information and make their own decision.
- They can construct their own argument based on information and make a decision based on the information.
- Students are open to gaining information from other cultures, nationalities and people with different views to their own.
- E.g. Students are able to look at key questions about the past and the future and make decisions /views on this information. Key questions /topics : Immigration, travel, Religon, global finance, secondary transition, bullying.
Higher Level
- Students can take in information about potentially delicate topics and summarise the points to make an informed decision. Students are interested in people with different view points and are eager to engage in information gathering.
- Student actively seek new information regardless of their own views.
- E.g. Rules and regulations in school, rules, laws of society. Comparing laws and cultures of different societies.
