Sports Facilities
There are a wide range of sporting facilities at Merchants' Academy, including brand new sports halls, dance studios, fitness suites, changing rooms and tennis courts, as well as large open spaces where students play rugby, hockey and football.
New outdoor facilities including astro-turf pitches and a multi-use games area (MUGA), are currently under construction and due to be finished by 2010.
Students also benefit from the use of Merchants' Academy Sports Centre, the community sports facilities situated on the Academy site. Here students can use the on site gymnasium, weights room and sports hall, which are also available after-hours to members of the public. www.merchantsacademysportscentre.co.uk
At Merchants' Academy, all students are encouraged to take part in an extra-curricular programme, of which sporting activities play an important part. There are many sports clubs available for students to join, such as cricket, rugby, dance and trampolining.
