Temple House

Temple House is named after Temple Gate, which lies along the boundaries of the old city. The gate derives its name from the nearby Temple Church which was built by the Knights Templar in the 12th century.

Our House colour is red, which encourages students to be bold and outgoing.

House Motto:

Head of House – Mrs Mitchell

“Hello, I am Mrs Mitchell and I am the Head of Temple House.

“We encourage all students in Temple House to work hard and help each other, and regularly reward punctuality, attendance and good behaviour in class.

“Temple House is linked with a school in Uganda. Some of their teachers have already visited Merchants’ Academy and we hope to visit there in the future.

“Temple House has a good success rate in sporting events and the weekly general knowledge quiz and we are hoping to get to the top in the overall house contest this year!”

Assistant Head of House – Mr Snow

“I am Mr Snow and I work with Mrs Mitchell to look after the students in Temple House. We are both here to help you enjoy your time at school and to listen to any concerns or problems you may have.

“Temple House has a team of 10 dedicated tutors that manage tutor groups with about 15 students from Years 7 to 11. Tutors meet with their students every day and their role is to support them in their daily school life.”
