Work Experience
An important part of The Academy’s Enterprise and Ethics focus is our Work Experience programme. All students in year 10 and 11 are expected to take up the opportunity to complete a block week of work experience.
Students are encouraged to find their own placements but help and support is offered by dedicated Academy staff. Students have to prepare their own CVs, write professional letter of application, and sit interviews with their propspective employers before they can secure the placement.
Students are given practice of professional job interviews with Academy partner the Bank Of Ireland.
In 2009, students spent their placements in local offices and banks, care homes and restaurants and engineering firms and shops as well as schools and nurseries.
All work experience placements are checked for Health and Safety compliance. These checks are carried out on the school’s behalf by The Trident Trust.
