On Wednesday afternoon, the U14's girls' basketball team took on Bristol Met in the season Final, held at Merchants' Academy in front of a crowd of parents, families and academy staff.

The team were triumphant winning the match an amazing 28-9 baskets and being crowned Champions of Bristol for the 2017-2018 season. Player of the Match was awarded to Merchants' Maria Eze.

Their road to winning has been outstanding and the girls have been declared unbeatable - winning all their league games, beating Colton’s Girls' School in the semi-final and then beating Bristol Met in the season finale.

Well done to the following team members for an outstanding season:

The students enjoyed a 'winners row' donut feast at break time and look forward to their promised Rewards Trip in the coming weeks! A sideline pep talk by their coach who said, "if you win this final, I'll take you all to MacDonald's to celebrate!"

Team Coach Miss R Pearson reflects on the girls season:

It gives me great pleasure to see a group of individuals gain the reward they deserve for what has been an incredible season. The U14 basketball team are UNBEATEN and this season have showed composure, talent, resilience and most importantly GRIT!

I could not be prouder of these girls for not giving up, showing positivity and optimism every step and always supporting each other - What a squad!
