Dress Code

Merchants’ Academy believes that high standards of dress are important to all students and this includes Sixth Form students. Whilst, the Academy accepts that Sixth Form students should be clearly defined in a different way to students in the main Academy, it is still important that the Sixth Form student retain an element of identity. Therefore, it is important that the Sixth Form are smart and act as ambassadors for Merchants’ Academy. The gender-neutral dress code is based on the understanding that smart dress instills confidence and pride, together with demonstrating respect for the values that we uphold and therefore prepares students for life in the workplace. In addition, to preparation for life in work place, it is also important that students are prepared for the selection and interview process which will enable them to access their work placement, apprenticeship or educational placement, therefore, a high standard of dress is important.
