WHY CHOOSE SPORT?

The course will provide you with the opportunity to showcase your skills through practical assessments and will give you the underpinning knowledge and skills needed to meet requirements in the sports industry. The course will build on prior knowledge gained in Year 10 and 11.

 

OVERVIEW OF CONTENT

The two year course is equivalent to 3 A Levels. Students will study 14 units over a two year period, covering 10 mandatory units and 4 optional units.

 

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED?

A combination of internal and external assessments consisting of written exams, case studies and supervised assessments.

 

COURSE TOPICS:

GROUP A - MANDATORY UNITS: Anatomy and Physiology; Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well-being; Development and Provision of Sport and Physical Activity; Investigating Business in the Sport and Active Leisure Industry; Skill Acquisition in Sport.

GROUP B - MANDATORY UNITS: Professional Development in the Sports Industry; Sports Leadership; Practical Sports Performance; Coaching for Performance; Research Methods in Sport. GROUP C - OPTIONAL UNITS: Students choose 4 units.

No Specific entry requirements, just a range of qualifications acquired at GCSE
