COURSE INFORMATION

A two-year course, equivalent to three A Levels and suitable for post-16 students of all playing abilities who have a keen interest in developing an insight into the practicalities within the sport industry. The course is based inside the newly-redeveloped Ashton Gate Stadium, with purpose-built classrooms and facilities, creating a perfect learning environment to thrive within.

Alongside the academic studies, students will train and play on a weekly basis, representing Bristol City Football Club against other professional clubs in competitive fixtures, aiding the courses uniqueness. Extra-curricular activities are also embedded within the course, with National Citizen Service (NCS) being a prime example. NCS will be undertaken in the first year of the course and will assist students in developing friendships amongst peers, enhancing social and personal skills, while giving them the chance to conduct purposeful work in the local community. National and international tours are also an integral part of the course and the Trust provides opportunities for students to visit world-famous stadia, including the likes of The Emirates (Arsenal) and The Etihad (Manchester City).

The Trust are extremely committed to enhancing the students’ employability skills, which is why those who enrol on to this course have access to valuable work experience in community or academy projects. This opportunity allows students to enhance their delivery and CV accordingly, which can assist them in getting a head start in their career path.

Unit 19 - Development and Provision of Sport & Physical Activity – External Exam

Unit 22 - Business for Sport – External Exam

Unit 23 - Skill Acquisition in Sport

Unit 25 - Rules, Regulations & Officiating in Sport

 

HOW YOU WILL BE ASSESSED?

The course follows a unit-by-unit approach and offer a combination of assessment styles giving students the opportunity to showcase their skills and apply their knowledge in an appropriate, work-related context. Both internally and externally assessed units are individually graded, and each final unit grade is allocated points, which will then make up the final grade.

 

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: A MINIMUM OF FIVE GRADES 4 – 9 AT GCSE, INCLUDING A GRADE 4 IN BOTH ENGLISH AND MATHS. AN INTEREST TOWARDS PLAYING REGULAR FOOTBALL OR FUTSAL.
